Course Description
This fieldwork experience involves the practical application of instruction and coaching principles. Students will design, implement and evaluate a variety of single sessions such as classes, practices or competitions. Students will also study an experienced leadership style and process in order to learn from best practices in the field.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this fieldwork course, the student shall be able to:

  1. Distinguish between personal, professional and organizational networking skills.
  2. Analyze the leadership styles and processes of best practices within the field.
  3. Design, implement and evaluate a variety of sessions.
  4. Demonstrate personal leadership characteristics relating to self confidence and initiative.
  5. Demonstrate social leadership characteristics relating to empathy, developing others and becoming a leader.
Means of Assessment

The selection of evaluation tools for this course is based on:

  1. Adherence to college evaluation policy regarding number and weighing of evaluations, for example a course of three credits or more should have at least three separate evaluations.
  2. A developmental approach to evaluation that is sequenced and progressive.
  3. Evaluation is used as a teaching tool for both students and instructors.
  4. Commitment to student participation in evaluation through such processes as self and peer evaluation, and program/ instructor evaluation.
