The Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation builds on the PCP compliance knowledge by developing to prepare seasoned professionals to manage a payroll department. It provides you with the knowledge to make decisions, supervise and manage, and contribute a payroll perspective to organizational policy and strategy discussions.
Program Prerequisites
Prior to enrolling to the CPM program, students must:
- have achieved the PCP designation,
- have at least two years of experience being responsible for an organization's payroll function, which includes being accountable to management for the accuracy of employees' pay and all government statutory remittances, or equivalent experience, obtained in the past five years, and
- submit the Payroll Experience Prerequisite Application and receive approval from the CPA. These prerequisites ensure students have the knowledge and practical payroll experience required to be successful in a payroll management program.

Overview
Introduction to Payroll Management prepares professionals to manage a payroll department by introducing them to the most applicable core management subjects. Based on market research, the course provides the management content and tools required to be a successful manager, such as decision making and project management. It builds on the foundation of a Payroll Compliance Practitioner's experience, knowledge and application of legislative monitoring and effective communication of payroll programs and policies.

Steps To Register
Step 1
Register for your Payroll course with Douglas College. Note: Students must achieve a minimum of 65% on final exams and 65% for each course.
Step 2
The National Payroll Institute has a dual registration process. This means in addition to paying the Douglas College fees for the course, students must also register with the Canadian Payroll Association and pay the Association's course fee ($340/course) and the student membership fee ($99/year) to receive their course materials and access to the learning platform.
Students should register with the Association no later than ten business days before the start date of the course.
