Winter Fun & Learning Starts Here — Discover Douglas College Child and Youth Programs!

Looking for meaningful weekend activities that go beyond screen time? At Douglas College, we offer a wide range of interactive and inspiring programs for kids aged 6–14 in Coquitlam and New Westminster — designed to spark imagination, build skills, and keep kids active and engaged.  Between January 10 - March 1, we’ve got sports, tech, art, and writing programs that will excite and challenge them. 

Ages 6–9: Perfect for young explorers! These programs focus on creativity, teamwork, and building friendships in a fun, supportive environment.  

Ages 10–14: Ideal for growing minds! These sessions offer deeper learning, leadership development, and hands-on experiences that encourage independence, confidence, and connection.

Winter Program Descriptions

Dribble, shoot, and score your way to success! This high-energy basketball program focuses on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy. Participants will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and game play through structured drills, scrimmages, and team challenges. Perfect for both beginners and experienced players looking to sharpen their skills. Please note: Athletic footwear with non-marking soles is required.

Bump, set, spike! This program introduces volleyball fundamentals including serving, passing, setting, and teamwork. Players will participate in skill-building drills, partner activities, and friendly matches to build confidence and ability on the court. Please note: Footwear with non-marking soles required.

Smash, spin, and serve! This program helps players develop hand-eye coordination, quick reflexes, and strategic thinking through drills, mini-tournaments, doubles play, and fun challenges. Please note: Footwear with non-marking soles required. Youth are welcome to bring their own paddles, but Douglas College is not responsible for the theft, loss, or damage to any personal equipment.

Let your child’s imagination soar... and make room on fridge for some artistic masterpieces! This creative combo program blends visual arts and storytelling. Kids will explore drawing, painting, crafting, and writing their own stories, all while building confidence and creative expression. Please note: Paint is regularly used in this program and can get on clothing so please dress appropriately.

Tech time for young minds! This beginner-friendly program introduces kids to computers through creative games, digital art, and interactive learning activities. Please note: Participants must know how to use a mouse and keyboard to take part in the program.

Explore the world of tech through hands-on projects in coding, digital art, and design. Participants will create animations, simple games, and digital graphics while learning the basics of programming and creative software. Please note: Participants must know how to use a mouse and keyboard to take part in the program.

Unleash your creativity in the digital world! DigiArt is a hands-on program where kids explore animation, game design, and digital graphics while learning the basics of coding and creative software. It’s the perfect mix of tech and imagination. No experience needed, but participants must know how to use a mouse and keyboard. 

Why choose just one sport? This program offers rotating games, sports, activities, keeping things fun, fresh and exciting while building all-around athletic skills, abilities and friendships. No experience needed. Please note: Athletic footwear with non-marking soles required.

Fast paced and fun, this program teaches badminton basics including grip, footwork, serving, rallying, and anticipating the play. Players will enjoy skill drills, partner games, and friendly matches. Please note: Athletic footwear with non-marking soles required. Youth are welcome to bring their own racquets, but Douglas College is not responsible for the theft, loss, or damage to any personal equipment.

Why just play games when you can create them? Kids will design their own video games using beginner-friendly tools while learning about coding and game mechanics. Please note: Participants must know how to use a mouse and keyboard to take part in the program.

Dive into JavaScript and learn to build interactive games, animations, and web-based projects. This beginner-friendly course introduces real-world coding concepts in a fun and engaging way. Please note: Participants must know how to use a mouse and keyboard to take part in the program.

Registration and Waiver Forms

To complete your child’s registration, please fill out the  Informed Consent & Authorization Form for Minors before the first day of the program or camp. Be sure to save a copy of the form after submitting it.

Next, review the  Code of Conduct Form  with your child so they understand what’s expected during the program. Once reviewed, download the PDF, sign it together, save it using your child’s name as the file name, and email it to youthcamps@douglascollege.ca.
