Volunteer Mentor FAQ

If you meet the criteria, you can become a mentor for the Winter 2022 semester. Sign up starts December 10th.

You will be matched with no more than four mentees.

  1. Sign up to the mentorship program.
  2. Complete the tasks in the Microsoft Teams once you're admitted.
  3. Receive an email from a Douglas International coordinator.
  4. Wait for your mentees!

No. If you and/or your mentee do not wish to video chat, that is your choice. However, we strongly encourage you to connect with your mentee via video call when needed to check in. It is a great opportunity to get to know each other and build your relationship.

For the Winter 2022 semester, we will be introducing mentors to Microsoft Teams. This is a free application included in your Office 365 account. This is where you will interact with your mentees, receive updates about the program, log conversations, and learn about other volunteer opportunities!

Mentee (New International Student) FAQ

Your mentor will check in with you to make sure you feel supported. However, please note that your mentor is not expected to be a counsellor, advisor, or instructor for you. A mentor is meant to be a point of reference for the mentee to the services at the college.

While we encourage participants to continue to stay in touch with each other, this program will be one semester. For Winter 2022, please note that your mentorship will officially end on April 27th.
