Douglas College’s new Post-Degree Diploma (PDD) in Kinesiology will prepare future Kinesiology grads to meet the upcoming professional standards set by the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK) to become a practising kinesiologist in the province.

From designing a one-handed zipper closure to help stroke patients gain independence to applying new archaeological technologies in locating Indigenous petroglyphs on Vancouver Island, Douglas students are using their hands-on education to take on research topics that have real-world implications.

Mebrat Beyene has dedicated her work to advocating against gender-based violence, and towards improving the well-being of people in at-risk communities for 30 years. In recognition of her activism and commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and workers, Beyene was named Douglas College’s Honorary Fellow at a graduation ceremony on Feb. 22.

In just five courses, students will gain the basic skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in bookkeeping or an entry-level accounting role through Douglas College’s new Certificate in Applied Accounting.
