Summer Camp Descriptions

Learn the tips and tricks of the superstars! This camp will allow your kid to sharpen their acting skills through performing scenes from movies and TV shows. Scenes will be filmed, and participants will see themselves on the big screen during a showcase at the camp’s conclusion.  No acting experience is required.

In this class, your child will be introduced to the tools and methods of animation and cartoons. They will learn about different animation styles, drawing techniques and materials. Throughout this course, they will create character designs, flipbooks and computer-animated gifs.

Your kid will learn how to perform the fundamental shots of the game and strategies for their execution. Campers will develop skills in game play and friendly competition.

Your kid will learn a variety of skills and drills to take their game to the next level. This program teaches all the phases of the game, from passing, dribbling and shooting to defense, rebounding and one-on-one moves. Players will be divided up by age and skill level.

Feel the sand between your toes! This outdoor camp will help your kid develop the fundamentals of this favourite summertime sport. Players of all levels are welcome.

This camp lets your kid explore their creative side. Participants will learn the foundations of cartooning and how to apply it to activities such as creating comic strips, storyboards and abstract art.

Coding is the future! In this camp, your kid will learn the skills needed to build simple websites and games. Campers will refine their design and develop their logic and problem-solving abilities, working on different projects every day.

Let your kid’s imagination run free with one of our most popular camps. Participants will explore different forms of writing, including short fiction, poetry and comic-book writing.

In this innovative camp, your kid will learn how to create a basic, fully functional app. Campers will learn how to transform the complex language of text-based coding into visual, drag-and- drop building blocks.

Got a budding graphic artist in the family? In this camp, your kid will learn the basics of Photoshop or similar programs including how to create web graphics. They’ll also learn about branding and logos.  Campers will complete fun and creative projects that will put them on the path to becoming graphic artists.

In this fun and interactive camp, your kid will learn basic elements of photography such as composition, lighting, exposure, aperture and more. They will explore advanced techniques like how to capture texture and take nature photos, and they’ll learn how to do basic post-production editing. Whether they’re looking to become professionals or just take pictures for fun, this camp is for them.

This camp is for kids who want to learn the various aspects of drama, including improv, storytelling, character development and voicework. Every day is different, with games that encourage campers to approach the stage with imagination, cooperation and bravery. Participants will craft their own piece of theatre to be presented on the final day.

Today’s weather report – brought to you by your child! This camp is perfect for kids interested in radio/TV broadcasting or podcasting. Campers will learn how to write shows, conduct interviews, report on sports and even how to cue music.

Calling all future business leaders! Ever wonder how an idea becomes a business? This camp is for kids who want to learn how to be successful entrepreneurs. Campers will explore models of leadership, teamwork, marketing, research, public speaking and more.

JavaScript is the programming language of the internet that allows you to make web pages interactive. In this camp, your kid will learn how to create interactive web pages and games using languages such as HTML and jQuery in a DOM framework. Campers will also tackle programming challenges, which will stretch their brains and inspire them when creating their own programs.

Campers will be introduced to the keyboard through fun typing exercises and learn how to navigate and explore various programs such as Word, Paint, PowerPoint, Coding and more.

Want to learn how to dance to your favourite Top 40 songs on the radio? Students will be led through a daily warm-up and stretch, basic movements and choreography, as well as dance games in a fun and safe environment. The camp is suitable for beginners (0-3 years dance experience).

This half-day program is for younger age groups. Campers will focus on skill development such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defending and more. They’ll also learn to work as a team to build their confidence on the court.

Designed for children aged 7–12, this camp will make your kid a better soccer player. Campers will learn European- and Brazilian-style soccer with a focus on ball control, footwork, dribbling, passing and shooting.

Have a little one who’s ready to explore technology while staying active? Participants will learn new skills and activities in the gym such as basketball, soccer and cooperative games. They will also learn basic computer skills including typing, coding and more.

An Olympic sport since 1998, table tennis is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Designed for children aged 7–12, this half-day camp combines games and individual skill development. No previous experience is necessary.

Known to improve physical and mental well-being, yoga can help your child learn patience and self-discipline as well as improve their ability to focus. Along with yoga, this camp includes outdoor walks, games and other activities. No previous yoga experience required.

Campers will learn the math that goes into making the Olympic games a success – while keeping fit at the same time. The math portion of this camp will explore measurement, graphing, computation, data analysis and fractions, while analyzing the results of previous Olympic events. Campers will also take part in athletics activities in the gym and outdoors, as well as leadership and team-building activities in the classroom.

This camp features a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to keep your child active mentally and physically. Offering a mix of athletic activities in the gym and outdoors, as well as leadership and team-building activities in the classroom, this camp will keep both the body and brain active.

Campers will explore a variety of arts-related activities – from drama and improv activities, to film/broadcasting and acting pursuits – that will encourage their creative potential and cooperative spirit. This camp takes place at Queens Park Bandshell (New Westminster only). This program is not eligible for city subsidy.

Your kid will exercise their brain as well as their body in this fun-filled week.
