February 2016 Update:

Revised Credentials Awarded at Douglas College Policy

  • Moved to new template;
  • Moved all credential types and notes about withdrawn credential types to "Definition" section;
  • Moved language regarding multiple credentials, residency requirements, time limits on credential completion and graduation requirements to "policy" section;
  • Added stipulation of 30 credits for PDD definition;
  • Added a definition for a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma (PBD), stipulating 60 credits;
  • Incorporated language approved at June 2015 EdCo to the effect that programs may set residency requirements more stringent than min set out in policy;
  • Identified "procedures" language to be moved to a SOP - separated out towards the end of document.

January 2016 Update:

Grading Systems Policy and Academic Integrity Policy - In September 2015, Education Council approved the inclusion of the new FD grade in the Grading Systems Policy. The creation of this grade was approved by EdCo as part of the Academic Integrity Policy. It has since been brought to the attention of the Standing Committee on Education Policy that the FD grade cannot be used in Mastery courses as it is coded in Banner as a 0.00, to be calculated in the student's GPA, and Mastery course results are not calculated in the student's GPA. Therefore, an equivalent grade of NMD (Non-mastery due to academic dishonesty) has been created to serve the same purpose as the FD grade without the calculation into GPA. This new grade will be included in the Grading Systems Policy and a sentence will be added to the Academic Integrity Policy, identifying its use in Mastery based courses.

Policy Details:

  3. The policy now includes a section called "Instructors Course Outline" which was previously found in the Curriculum Development and Approval Policy (appendix).
