The Government of Canada has maintained a long-term focus on identifying the skills that Canadians need to achieve a high standard of living and to contribute to a healthy economy. Skills for Success is the result of decades of social sciences research into the daily lives and experiences of Canadians.
Skills for Success:
- are the skills needed to participate and thrive in learning, work, and life;
- include skills that are foundational for building other skills and knowledge and important for effective social interaction;
- are inclusive and can be adapted to different contexts.
Nine Skills for Success are used in every occupation at varying degrees of complexity:
