You can live where you learn with student housing at Douglas College. Just steps from the New Westminster Campus, it's your opportunity to ditch the commute and spend more time connecting with fellow students, making memories and getting the right support to make your time at Douglas a success in and out of the classroom.
Centrally located at the New Westminster campus
Our upcoming West Building at 808 Royal Avenue, located across the street from the rest of the New Westminster campus and minutes from the New Westminster SkyTrain station, will make Douglas College the first college in the Lower Mainland to have dedicated student housing. With 368 beds across 12 storeys of student housing and 11 storeys of state-of-the-art classrooms, labs and collaborative spaces, the development will create an integrated community where a new generation of Douglas students can live, learn and thrive.
What to expect in student housing
Living in student housing is one of the most impactful ways to immerse yourself in the college experience. Here’s how it looks.
Room types
The housing floors will feature a mix of room types including traditional single rooms, connected single rooms that share a bathroom and single rooms in four-bedroom suites. All room types will include accessible options.
Each room type will have access to a shared kitchen, creating opportunities to cook, connect and build community. Complete floorplans and room layouts will be available closer to project completion.
Amenities and services
In addition to academic space on lower floors, you’ll have access to collaboration spaces, study and leisure spaces, laundry facilities, a main entrance foyer with a cafeteria and outdoor spaces. You’re also across the street from everything at the existing New Westminster Campus including the fitness centre, library, theatre, food services, student services and more.
Fees
Student housing will be priced with affordability in mind. Housing fees will provide students with a predictable cost that includes their furnished room, utilities, high-speed Wi-Fi, secure access, 24/7 security and emergency support, and access to housing amenities and programming. Full fees will be announced closer to project completion.
How to know if student housing is right for you
If you’re looking for a vibrant campus experience where you can feel connected and supported while balancing academics, work and life, then student housing is for you.
Closer to project completion, specific guidelines will be announced for eligibility and priority placement.
