Douglas students looking to enhance their skills training have access to the Future Skills Grant (FSG) for the 2025–2026 academic year, through the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
The Ministry approved Douglas for $250k with a focus on spending 80 percent ($200k) on provincial priority programs and 20 percent ($50k) on transferable skills programs. Empowering B.C. students to shape their futures, the FSG makes up to $3,500 available to students over the age of 19 for eligible short-term skills training programs at post-secondaries across the province.
Last year, 310 Douglas students received nearly $650k in FSG funding across seven programs – almost double the number from the previous year.
“The continued and expanded support of the Future Skills Grant allows even more students to get access to the education they need to fill in-demand roles across B.C.,” said Dr. Kathy Denton, President of Douglas College. “From mental health care to career development, offering a diverse range of programs eligible for funding opens even more doors for students."
Douglas College programs eligible for the 2025–2026 Future Skills Grant include:
Certificate in Community Mental Health
Certificate in Skills for Success Practitioner
