How Douglas College inspired Karun Samra to go from aspiring basketball player to successful lawyer
Driven by a passion for basketball, Karunvir Samra applied for Douglas College’s men’s basketball team, landed a spot and began his college basketball career. Quickly into his journey at Douglas, he took an introductory law course and developed an interest in law, setting him on the path to become the lawyer he is today.
Being a part of the basketball team while pursuing his studies showed Karun how to persevere and overcome challenges. During his final year at Douglas, Karun and his teammates, who have turned into lifelong friends, won the provincial gold medal and became PACWEST champions.
In 2018, Karun graduated from Douglas with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and went on to attend law school in Australia. During law school, Karun felt prepared from his time at Douglas College and applied the skills he learned there. Currently, he is a lawyer practicing law at Grandview Law Group LLP.
Overall, Karun’s ultimate goal is to ensure his family and loved ones are cared for and to be better than he was the day before.
