Douglas Beech’s Entrepreneurial Journey
Douglas College’s Self-Employment program provided Douglas Beech with the entrepreneurial skills to start and scale his businesses while helping young entrepreneurs build their own. Douglas received unwavering support from his instructors at the College and felt they had a genuine interest in his aspirations. Specifically, his marketing instructor who showed him the importance of collaboration and asking for help when needed.
After graduating, Douglas went on to receive a Masters in Global Business at the University of Victoria, and furthered his studies in South Korea and France, broadening his understanding of international business. He later started Scholarship Strategy, a company that helps disadvantaged youth apply for university scholarships. Shortly after, he founded the board game design and manufacturing company Jumping High Five, which has developed board games for companies like National Geographic.
Beyond his business endeavours, Douglas is a marketing instructor at Douglas College where he gets to support his students’ goals, just like his instructors did for him, bringing his education and career full circle. The flexibility of both positions grant him more time with his family while supporting youth from all around the world.
