Waitlist information

  • Once you have added yourself to a waitlist in the Add, Drop or Waitlist Course page, you can see your Waitlisted courses and position on the waitlist in your Detail Course Schedule.
    • Here, you will be able to see how your Waitlist courses fit – or do not fit – into your schedule.
    • Included in this section is the contact information for each courses’ Instructor.
  • Once you receive an offer, your Waitlist position will update on both the Add, Drop or Waitlist Courses page, as well as in your Detail Course Schedule.
    • Your numerical position on the Waitlist will change to read 0 and your “Notification expires:” day and time will be listed. This change serves as your official notice of offer, starting the 23-hour window you have to accept these offers.
  • Accept your Waitlist offers through the Add, Drop or Waitlist Course page
    •  Here, you will be able to Accept (*Registered*) and Decline (Drop) any offers that you receive.
    • Waitlist Offers expire after 23 hours. So make sure you check your myAccount daily so-as-to not miss any offers you have received.
    • CLICK HERE to access an instructional How-To video on the waitlist interface.

    Using the waitlist

There are specific instructions for adding yourself to the waitlist. Please carefully read and follow the instructions provided below.

    1. If you do NOT have the prerequisite or co-requisite or you have taken the course twice before, or three times for Mastery-graded courses, you will not be able to waitlist for that course.
    2. You may waitlist for more than one section of a course to a maximum of 10 courses/sections.
    3. Your myAccount/Registration/Add, Drop or Waitlist Courses page is where you will:
      • add courses to your waitlist
      • monitor your position on the waitlist
      • accept a registration offer
      • drop yourself from a waitlist
    4. To add yourself to a waitlist, you must first attempt to register for the course. After entering the CRN for your desired course and pressing ‘Submit Changes,’ a prompt reading: “Registration Add Error” will appear if the course/section is indeed full.
      • If this happens, using the Action pull-down menu, select “Waitlist” and use the ‘Submit Changes’ button once more to add yourself to the waitlist. You should now see this course/section in your Current Schedule identified as “waitlisted,” indicating your waitlist position on the far right.
    5. To accept or decline an offer:
      • Using the Action pull-down menu, choose “*Registered*” to accept an offer, and “Drop” to decline an offer.
      • You must click ‘Submit Changes’ at the bottom of the page to execute any actions.
    6. It is your responsibility to check the Add, Drop or Waitlist Courses page of myAccount every day (tip: offers are sent at 1230 hours each day) during the registration and late registration period to find out if you have been offered a space in a class. As a courtesy, you may receive an e-mail notification; however, the notices on your myAccount Add, Drop or Waitlist Courses and Detail Course Schedule pages are your official notification and we cannot restore your position on the waitlist if you miss your offer.
    7. Once you receive an offer, your waitlist position will be replaced by “Offer” on the Add, Drop or Waitlist Courses and Detail Course Schedule pages.
    8. When you put yourself on the waitlist, the registration system does not check for time conflicts. You are responsible for scheduling a conflict-free timetable.
      • The Detail Course Schedule page of myAccount is a beneficial tool towards planning this. You now have the ability to see how/where your waitlisted courses fit in with those for which you have already registered.
    9. If a space becomes available in a class and you are next on the list, you will be notified that a space is available at 1230 hours on the Add, Drop or Waitlist Courses page. You have 23 hours from that time to accept the registration offer. If you accept the registration offer, you must also pay the tuition for the course by the applicable payment deadline. If you do not accept the offer within that time, you will be dropped from the list. Offers are sent Monday to Thursday from June 25th, 2019 - August 29th, 2019. Please note, no offers will be sent on a statutory holiday or the day before the statutory holiday or during the closure period for fee payment (August 19th - 22nd). From September 3rd - 15th all Waitlist offers will be Faculty driven and sent immediately upon Faculty authorization.
    10. Once you accept a registration offer for a course, you will automatically be dropped from the waitlist for any other sections of the same course.
    11. If you fail to pay your fees for the courses you are registered in by the 1st fee payment deadline you will be de-registered from your courses and removed from all waitlisted courses. If you fail to pay your fees for the courses you add after the first fee payment deadline, and fail to pay your fees by the 2nd fee payment deadline, you will not be de-registered from your courses. You will be assessed late fee penalties. Refer to Fee Payment Deadlines.
    12. On the day before the start of classes, check your waitlist status, you must attend the first class if you are still interested in registering into the course. Instructors make decisions about enrolling additional students at the first class. The instructor will decide if he/she is willing to accept any of the waitlisted students. Not all students may be offered a seat. Students will be accepted into the class in waitlist order.
