Course Description
This course will teach the theory and practice of the operation of a sit down counterbalance lift truck and will lead, on successful completion, to an Operators Certificate. Students will spend time in the classroom learning the theory of lift truck operation and the stringent safety rules that apply, and will then have hands on practice on a lift truck before assessment by a qualified instructor.
Course Content
  1. The theory of forklift truck driving.
  2. Practice hours as required and final evaluation of the student’s ability to operate the lift truck in a safe and efficient manner.
Learning Outcomes

The student will learn the theory and practice of the safe operation of the sit down counterbalance fork lift truck and will on successful completion be awarded an Operators Certificate.

Means of Assessment
  • The theory of lift truck driving will be assessed by means of continuous classroom evaluation and testing.
  • The practice of lift truck driving will be assessed by observing the hands-on driving of the student. Obersvation and final evaluation will be done by a qualified life truck trainer.
