Douglas College is pleased to announce Bacel Younan has been appointed as the College’s new Registrar, starting on April 3.
Younan has more than 20 years of experience in higher education, having held senior positions at BC Institute of Technology (BCIT) and Capilano University.
“Bacel brings an excellent breadth and depth of registrarial experience,” said Sarah Dench, Vice President, Student Affairs. “With his strategic student-first approach, he is highly qualified to continue the transformational service integrations and improvements underway, and bring fresh perspective to how we support the lasting success of all our students during their time at Douglas.”
Younan is currently the Associate Director of Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) Implementation at BCIT, where he provides leadership on SEM implementation and works with stakeholders to advance priorities in student access and entrance, the student experience and student success. Prior to this, Younan oversaw a wide range of portfolios in the Registrar’s Office as Associate Registrar at BCIT, and before that, at Capilano University.
"I’m looking forward to working with partners across Douglas College to exceed our learners’ expectations, which continue to evolve in response to local and global market shifts,” says Younan. “I see key opportunities to enhance our programs and courses, affirm our commitment to students’ needs in our service delivery, and much more.”
Younan earned a Master of Arts in Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Enrolment Management from Royal Roads University. He has also completed undergraduate studies in chemistry at College Ahuntsic and the Université du Québec à Montréal.
