- General College Admission Requirements
- Applicants must have an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada or an equivalent credential from an approved institution of a different country. Any applicant who earned their credential in a language other than English must meet the Douglas College English language proficiency requirement.
Graduation Requirements:
- Successful completion of 60.00 credits
- At least 50% (30.00 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
- Minimum program GPA of 2.00 is required
- Time limit to complete the program graduation requirements: seven (7) years. Any courses completed outside of that time limit will not be usable. Students may seek the permission of the Department/Program to complete a credential outside the approved time limits.
- Up to 50% (30.00 credits) of coursework used towards a previously received credential can be used to meet graduation requirements (see the Credentials Awarded Policy and see note 5).
Additional Graduation Requirements with Co-operative Education Option
- Successful completion of 9.00 additional credits through Co-operative Education I (COOP 1100).
- Students completing the Co-operative Education option will graduate with 69.00 credits.
- At least 50% (34.50 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College.

Notes:
1) The courses above have been listed in the recommended order for students to take them. To complete the program efficiently, students need to:
- Make note of courses that are not offered every term to adjust their plans accordingly,
- Take all pre-requisites prior to attempting to register for a given course, and
- Satisfy the pre-requisites that require grades higher than C-.
2) COBA 4885 and COBA 4886 (Experiential Learning and Internship I and II) provide the opportunity for students to gain unpaid work experience and course credit.
3) Students who would like to find out more about co-op or internship should send an email to the careercentre@douglascollege.ca at the start of their program.
4) The Co-Op work term is a minimum of 420 hours of work and must be taken through Douglas College's Co-op program. The timing of the work terms is restricted to the following:
- Can be undertaken only after completion of a minimum of two semesters, 18 credits.
- Cannot be taken in the last semester of the program.
5) If replacement courses are required, students are responsible for:
- Choosing courses that fulfill all graduation requirements; and
- Completing pre-requisites for the replacement courses (i.e., not expect pre-requisite overrides).
Replacement courses should be 3-credits. The following replacement course options are recommended:
- Any course from CBA (i.e., BUSN, ACCT, BLAW, COBA, CSIS, ECON, FINC, HOSP, or MARK);
- From outside CBA, the courses that are listed in the table below; or
- A similar course, as approved by the Program Coordinator.

Students who successfully complete this program will:
- Analyze and solve management problems.
- Effectively analyze and strategically apply human resource management theories and principles at the generalist and specialist level.
- Evaluate and propose how to effectively leverage the role of human resources in achieving the operational and strategic goals of an organization.
- Identify pathways and obstacles to change in individuals, teams, organizations and recognize underlying processes, contents and outcomes in ethical decision making.
- Develop the skills and abilities in each specialized human resource management area and effectively apply them in managing human resources in organizations.
- Appraise recommendations to both familiar and new human resource management situations.
- Design and develop programs that will help human resources function effectively and efficiently in organizations using skills and abilities developed in each human resource management specialized area.
- Demonstrate professional writing and oral presentation standards and practice.
- Obtain the requisite knowledge and skills to write the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) towards earning a designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).
