Physics

Ever wondered what causes static cling, how a rocket works or why a steel boat floats while a steel ball sinks? How come the sky is blue on a sunny day, and why does rubbing your hands together warm them?

Physics students know the answers.

About the Program

Physics deals with the basic aspects of how matter behaves, or simply, why things are the way they are. Other fields of science, such as biology, chemistry, geology and engineering, all use physics, making it an important building block for not only a career in science but in many other professions.

Program Options

At Douglas College, we offer a selection of physics courses covering topics such as mechanics, astronomy, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, optics and geophysics. If you're not quite ready for college-level courses, we also offer introductory physics courses to help you prepare for studies in science and technology.
