Professional Profile

Michael brings to Douglas College extensive marketing experience in senior executive roles and ties it with his passions for marketing, teaching, and making others successful. Having worked in numerous technology companies from Telus and Electronic Arts to Webtech Wireless, BSM Technologies and V7 Entertainment and in leadership roles in management consulting and sports companies he is able to leverage considerable industry experience and real world examples in the classroom. He has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies and large government organizations to drive marketing, business development and sales efforts with his strong background in marketing strategy and management, digital marketing, brand management, marketing communication and international marketing, business development and sales. He remains very active in consulting and entrepreneurship.

Michael graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Master in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Digital Media (MDM) from the Centre for Digital Media; he graduated from his Bachelor of Arts degree, with distinction, in Geography from the University of Victoria; he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and holds a certificate in Project Management from the University of British Columbia. Michael is fluent in French having graduated with a provincial government diploma in French immersion.

Michael is an avid traveler and citizen of the world having visited over 40 countries and counting, both personally and professionally. He has marketed music and played concerts internationally highlighting his original songwriting (guitar, vocals and harmonica). A lifelong athlete and sportsman, Michael is currently a scratch golfer and past member of the University of Victoria Varsity Men’s Golf team.

Michael has been teaching at Douglas College since 2017, guest speaking and mentoring at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business and in many other marketing, entrepreneurship and business capacities. He sits on the Douglas College Marketing Advisory Council and is an active community member and volunteer.
