Course Description
This fieldwork experience involves the practical application of instruction and coaching principles. Opportunity for recertification of first aid and CPR C will be provided at the beginning of this course. Students will design and implement single sessions such as a class, a practice or a competition. Students will also evaluate their performance as a leader of a single session.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this fieldwork course, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate basic first aid and CPR level C skills sufficient for certification.
  2. Demonstrate professional characteristics related to the preparation and implementation of single sessions.
  3. Perform task analyses of individual learning activities.
  4. Design, implement and evaluate a learning session.
  5. Demonstrate personal leadership characteristics relating to self confidence and adaptability.
  6. Demonstrate social leadership characteristics relating to empathy and approaches to change.
Means of Assessment

The selection of evaluation tools for this course is based on:

  1. Adherence to college evaluation policy regarding number and weighing of evaluations, for example a course of three credits or more should have at least three separate evaluations.
  2. A developmental approach to evaluation that is sequenced and progressive.
  3. Evaluation is used as a teaching tool for both students and instructors.
  4. Commitment to student participation in evaluation through such processes as self and peer evaluation, and program/ instructor evaluation.
