First-Generation students

Welcome. First-generation students are the first in their family to go to college or, whose parents have never attended a post-secondary educational institution.

As a first-generation student, you may have a huge challenge to navigating the college processes without the learning curve that comes from having a college graduate family member to lean on. Learning and maximizing on important opportunities such as internships, co-op and applying for financial aid can be a new and difficult challenge.

Being a college student can entail figuring out how to balance a full course load, a part-time job, and social life – here at Douglas College, we are equipped with multiple opportunities to help you in your success.
