Skills for Success & Essential Skills (ES) assessments measure core skills that include reading, document use, and numeracy and provide a score that relates to workplace performance. Assessment results:

  • Recognize learner's skills;
  • Identify skills to build;
  • Provide an indicator of readiness for training and work

Douglas College is a distributor of two Skills for Success / Essential Skills Assessment Tools:

WESA (Workplace Essentials Skills Assessment), Essential Skills Group: 

WESA is an online assessment that helps to predict how well students will do in learning and/or the workplace. The online assessment provides students with the opportunity to assess one or more workplace-focused skill areas including:

  • Reading
  • Numeracy
  • Writing
  • Listening
  • Digital

WESA also assesses five Success Traits to provide a measure of workplace-focused social-emotional skills:

  • Task Performance
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Emotional Stability
  • Working with Others
  • Open Mindedness

TOWES is a nationally recognized suite of assessment and training products that use authentic Canadian work and life content to assess and improve critical skills for success in working, learning and life. TOWES measures:
