Electric vehicle charging

Both New Westminster and Coquitlam Campus locations have Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations on the P1 level of their parkades. To take advantage of EV charging on campus, users must register for a free FLO account through one of the following two methods:

Following creation of an account, the EV charging stations can be used by plugging your vehicle into one of the chargers and using the FLO app. Once charging is complete you will be notified by email.

EV charging stalls are for charging, not parking

EVs should only be parked in a charging station stall when they are actively charging. When charging is complete, please disconnect your vehicle as soon as possible and move it from the stall, to allow access for other users.

Vehicles that exceed posted hourly limits or are not actively charging will receive warning tickets from Security. Repeat offenders may be towed at their own expense and without further notice.

Don’t aim for 100%

If you have plenty of charge (more than 75%), consider other people who may need to use the charging station to get home.

Vacate the EV charging stall as soon as possible

Move your vehicle to a standard parking stall as soon as your vehicle is fully charged or within four hours. Slower, Level 1 EV stalls have been designated for users who need up to eight hours of parking while they charge.

Don’t unplug other users

Some vehicles can be damaged if you attempt to disconnect them from the charger. Please always ask permission first.

Keep the EV community friendly

If you feel comfortable, consider displaying a note on your dashboard to communicate with other users.

For example,

  • “Call me on local 5555 if you are desperate for a charge.”
  • “Please do not unplug without consent. Call me on 5555.”

If a vehicle has been parked in an EV stall and is not charging, or if you believe it has been there for too long, please email parking@douglascollege.ca.  When reporting a concern, provide as much detail as possible (e.g. "Purple Nissan, Model A, P1 underground Lot, plate ABC123, charge duration exceeding 4 hours").

Take the time to share these tips to create a more positive experience for everyone.

Locations

EV Charging Stations are located close to the P1 entrance of each campus parkade.
