International Student Orientation

Orientation provides new students with the opportunity to explore the campus, learn about services, and meet other students. This event is designed to help you have a successful and memorable first experience at Douglas College. Orientation registration information will be sent to your email address on file. Summer 2020

Day 1 - April 27

10:00 AM - Welcome to Douglas College!

Welcome to Douglas College! We will be providing a short welcome workshop to give you an overview of your new academic life at Douglas.

12:00 PM - Academic Expectations: 10 misconceptions for international students

Learn about the tools and resources available to be successful online.

2:00 PM - Stay Connected - Intro to Strong Start

Hang out, break out, ask questions, and connect with our staff and student mentors!

4:00 PM - Intro to ELLA (for ELLA students only)

All new ELLA students should attend this crash course in being an ELLA student!

Day 2 - April 28

10:00 AM - Immigration 101 

Learn about what it means to be an International Student in Canada.

12:00 PM - Academic Integrity

Learn about Canadian academic standards and how they may be different from your home country in this informative workshop. Dont forget, all new students will need to complete the Academic Integrity course on Blackboard.

2:00 PM - Wrap-up

Closing remarks for the day and setting goals and expectations going forward.

In order to participate in the live workshops students will need to download and install Zoom on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet. It's free and will be used in many upcoming workshops, courses, advising sessions, etc.
