Douglas College > Study at Douglas > International students > Current students > How to register > Registration priority FAQ
If you have a lower GPA at this time, it is important to be aware of these upcoming changes so that you can work toward raising your GPA to secure an earlier registration timeslot. If you are experiencing challenges with your academics, there are various resources available at the College for you to access. We suggest visiting the Learning Centre for resources and subject-specific assistance from a peer tutor. If you feel like you are not in the correct program, but you are unsure what you want to study, you can make an appointment with a counsellor for a career counselling session. You are also welcome to drop by the Douglas International office (S2800) to meet with an International Education Advisor
The timeslot will be based on your overall grade point average. If you have a higher GPA, you will have an earlier timeslot to start your course registration. For example, if your Douglas GPA is 4.00 or higher, you will be placed into Group 1, which will receive the highest level of registration priority. If your GPA is 2.00 to 2.49, you will be placed into Group 11, which will have you registering after students with a GPA higher than 2.49. Please see the link for the GPA-based timeslot:
If you are experiencing challenges with your academics, there are various resources available at the College for you to access. The first step is to politely approach your instructors to discuss the challenges you are having, as they may have some helpful suggestions for you to do better in their classes. Please note however that instructors CANNOT adjust registration slots.
Please make sure you PLAN AHEAD and do course planning before your registration date as academic advising appointments during and just before registration time fill up quickly. We cannot ensure that academic advising will be available in time for you to take advantage of registration times that will secure you seats. If you do have a later registration date, be prepared to create some back-up schedules if in case you do not get into the classes you want.
