When encountering students who appear to be struggling, faculty, staff and other students make best efforts to guide these students to campus services.
All information, including the name of the person reporting, may be included in the report that will be shared with the alleged student in question. Frivolous or vexatious reports may result in disciplinary action.
Douglas College is committed to the health and safety of all members of our community. This reporting system is one element of a safe and supportive campus community. Any behavior that is believed to be in violation of the Standards of Conduct A.10.02.02 should be reported.

This referral form is for the use of all members of the Douglas community who encounter student behaviours that they are concerned about. We encourage anyone who has observed students in distress within the college setting to use this form.
Once this form has been submitted, you may be contacted by the OSSC for additional information. Once the necessary information has been gathered, we may reach out to the student (this is determined on a case by case basis) to discuss the incident and possible sanctions. During the meeting, students are provided with information regarding appropriate resources and referrals. Some referrals require additional attention. Following the meeting the OSSC may discuss the situation with Campus Security, Student Affairs, Counselling or Accessibility Services to discuss additional supports, appropriate consequences and next steps. This information is collected under the authority of the BC FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND PROTECTION OF PRIVACY ACT. The information provided in this form will be used by the Student Support and Conduct Office for the purposes of determining if an investigation and/or further action is required in accordance with the Douglas College Standards of Students Conduct A10.02.02 or for determining if a referral to another university policy, procedure or regulation is appropriate.
