Are you ready to take on the next Fitness Challenge? Back by popular demand, the Fall 2021 Douglas College Fitness Challenge will now have you feeling like an Olympian. With many new badges to earn and a medal count leaderboard, this challenge will make you feel like an Olympic athlete. Come track your 120km (20 km/week or a little less than 3km/day) journey by walking, running, swimming, biking, or any other distance-based activity via the use of the Strava app or manual submission forms. Also, accumulate 900 active minutes over this 6-week challenge by playing a sport, weightlifting, attending our fitness centres and special events.

Who can join? Registration is open to all students and employees of Douglas College

When does it start? September 27- November 7 2021. Registrations open September 12 and close September 26

How can I join?  It's a simple two-step process:

  1. Sign up on our registration form
  1. Join the Douglas College Recreation Strava group  and each time you walk, swim, run, jog, bike, use the app to track your distance.  If you don't want to download the strava app, you may upload your submissions manual through our form

Are there prizes?  Absolutely! Complete a minimum of 20km of the challenge and you will receive an event t-shirt. Complete the entire 120km of the challenge and you will receive a newly designed lifestyle Athletic & Recreation t-shirt. Additionally, for every 10km that you complete (maximum of 12 ballots per person), you will earn a ballot to be entered into the grand prize draws. The grand prize packs may consist of a combination of Polar A300 fitness and activity tracker, Lululemon gift packs and Royals swag.

----NEW FOR Fall 2021----

Are you a fan of the Olympics? Earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold team badges to help your team reach the top of the medal count leaderboard. The goal for this challenge are targeted to be participation badges to help staff and students to find ways to stay physical active through some of our recreation programming. These badges are not awarded based on performance level. We will have a Special Event Badge where we will run a weekly event during the challenge. These special events will consist of Ping Pong, Badminton, Tai-Chi, BollyX and many more! Details will be released during each weekly update.

Sign up and represent your department to earn virtual badges and flex your fitness prowess among your colleagues. Simply enter your department in the registration form and we will track your progress towards the virtual badges below. You can track your departments progress via our weekly updates on DC Connect.

To even out the playing field, cyclists tend to cover more kilometers than most activities. We are implementing a 1 to 3 run-to-bike ratio, meaning one kilometre of running at a moderate effort equals three kilometres of cycling at that same effort level. Our recreation team will make the adjustment at the end of each week.
