Strong Start: New Student Orientation

Strong Start: New Student Orientation

Orientation is one of the best ways to get prepared for the upcoming semester! Strong Start: New Student Orientation will help you hit the ground running in your first semester as a new student at Douglas College. Discover services and supports, how to access online classes, learn about exciting events and activities and how to get involved in the College community. Connect with your instructors and fellow new students, and start making friends and building your network before classes even start. Once you complete all orientation programming, you'll be ready to start this new phase of your educational journey with confidence.

We want everyone to be able to participate in orientation. If you have questions about accessibility or accommodation requests, please email  studentlife@douglascollege.ca  so we can meet your needs.

Check out more information below!

STRONG START ONLINE COURSE

Strong Start Here: Welcome to Douglas College is a self-paced, self-enrolled course that lives right in your Blackboard. Learn about Douglas College, how to be a successful student and all the college essentials, such as how to access your online classes and services like peer tutoring, and how to get your student ID. Plus, discover how you can stay healthy with fitness classes and wellness events, and how you can contribute to the College community.

Online orientation is now available in Blackboard; learn everything you need to know about being a new student.

FACULTY SPECIFIC ORIENTATION SESSIONS

Online orientations sessions for each of our main faculty areas will be hosted on Zoom for two weeks before classes begin. Faculty specific sessions will feature staff and instructors from your specific faculty area who will be able to give you information about your classes and answer any questions you may have. There will also be Student Life staff in attendance who will talk about life on campus, upcoming events and answer questions about college resources and services.

If you are unable to attend your faculty specific orientations, we are also hosting open sessions with general content about starting at Douglas and staff on hand to answer questions. The open sessions are open to all new students, mature students as well as parents/supporters.
