WINTER WELCOME WEEK 

We are so excited to welcome you to Douglas College for the Winter 2020 semester! Join us for Winter Welcome Week and get your semester started right! We're also giving away awesome prizes to new students, so make sure to come say hi! 

VISIT THE "ASK ME" TENT 

Have questions about Douglas? Need directions? Want to know what is going on on campus? Stop by the "Ask Me" tent to have your questions answered! The "Ask Me" tent will be located in the New Westminster Concourse and Coquitlam A/B Atrium during the following times: 

  • Monday, January 6 -- New Westminster campus 8AM - 2PM | Coquitlam Campus 10AM - 2PM 
  • Tuesday, January 7 -- New Westminster campus 8AM - 2PM | Coquitlam Campus 9AM - 2PM
  • Wednesday, January 8 -- New Westminster campus 8AM - 2PM | Coquitlam Campus 9AM - 2PM

ATTEND A COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE SESSION 

Are you looking to learn more about the college and how things work around here? Come learn from the best at your College Knowledge sessions. These sessions have been designed to help you succeed and give you information to make your first semester as smooth as possible. 

Sessions include: 

  • EXERCISE 101 -- Begin your New Year with a plan to stay active! Join two of our Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching students for an introduction to exercise and fitness. This session will discuss the benefits of including physical activity into your lifestyle. Bring appropriate exercise clothing and footwear. No experience is required! 
  • TAKE A LOOK, IT'S IN A BOOK -- Come and learn about important resources, services and how to get help at the Library! Sessions will include an in-depth tour of our newly renovated library! 
  • JOB SEARCH -- Meet the Career Centre and learn about the services and programs offered to you as a student. Topics include information on job search tips, strategies and how to dress for employment on and off campus. 
  • WHAT I WISH I KNEW WHEN -- Meet our peer tutors at the Learning Centre! At this session you will learn helpful tips from your peers that'll help you navigate your first semester on campus. These tips will help you prepare for your assignments, tests and papers. 
  • TAKING NOTES IN CLASS -- Effective note taking is one step in successful studying. Join the Learning Centre to learn how to take notes that will help you with studying and recall information from class. 
  • HOW TO READ A TEXTBOOK -- Reading a textbook is different than any other reading you may do. The Learning Centre will teach you techniques that'll help you approach this new task

ATTEND THE NEW STUDENT HUDDLE 

Hear from current students about their experiences at Douglas College. You'll get essential tips from students who were once where you are now, and these will help you succeed during your first semester. The floor will be open for you to ask some of your own questions and after the Q&A, stick around to meet your peers, have some snacks and take a campus tour! This is open to all new students.

SERVICES FAIR

Wonder what Douglas has to offer? Looking to meet some wonderful people who work at the college and have services to help you succeed? Come to the Services Fair to find out what Douglas can do for you! Not only will you gain valuable knowledge, there's also cool prizes to be won just for coming out to chat and explore!
