Get Healthy - Get Active - Get Living at Douglas College

Douglas College Fitness is excited to announce IFIT from Freemotion. The official equipment supplier of the Chris Johnson Fitness Centre, is offering a free 60-day membership to its IFIT - AT HOME workout experience (normally priced at $14.99/month) to members of the Douglas College community. After the 60 days, users have the ability to Opt-Out for free or they will be charged the $14.99/month to maintain their membership. Douglas College will not cover membership costs beyond the 60 days. 

With iFit you get your own team of workout coaches made up of professional athletes, Olympians and industry leading experts. The thousands of iFit trainer-led streaming workouts has already helped millions of people around the globe with their health and fitness journey. You will find a range of options, such as: Bodyweight training, HIIT cardio workouts and Yoga, many of which require little to no equipment. Also this app will Bluetooth connect to the College's Freemotion Fitness machines once the Fitness Centre re-opens. Please exercise at your own risk and use the app at your discretion. Douglas College does not provide any support with IFIT.

Douglas College has two fitness facilities that both students and employees have access to.

The New Westminster Fitness Centre (N1315) offers great equipment in a welcoming environment for the novice and most experienced fitness users.

The facility has flat screen TV’s, cardio equipment, and a complete range of free weights, kettle bells, and medicine balls to compliment any type of workout regime. 

Next to the Fitness Centre is the Movement Studio equipped with 10 Keiser Spin Bikes, Bosu Balls, Ping Pong table, and more.  This studio is where all of the Fitness Classes take place.

Intro to the Fitness Centre Sessions: 

Never stepped into a fitness centre before? Not sure how to use the equipment? Feeling a little nervous? Don't worry, our Wellness Leader is offering free introductory sessions to the fitness centre at the New Westminster campus starting in January 2020. Sessions will be 45 - 60 minutes long. Email the Manager of Student Life (durands1@douglascollege.ca) to inquire or book a session.

How to get a Pinetree Community Centre Activity Card? (You will need this card to use the Fitness Centre)

Students:

  • Go to the front desk in Pinetree Community Centre and let the representative know that you are a Douglas College student and would like to get your complimentary Activity Card
  • You will need to show your Douglas College student ID AND proof of enrolment

Ways to show proof of enrolment:

  1. A printed copy of your class schedule with current dates
  2. A printed copy of tuition and fee payment
  3. Show class schedule via myAccount on your phone or tablet
  4. Show proof of tuition payment via myAccount
  • An account will be started for you and your picture will be taken for the Activity Card
  • You will be given your card
  • The card must be scanned at the front desk each visit
  • A wrist band must be worn during your visits (these are at the front desk)
  • Cards expire on September 1st each year.
  • You can renew your card by following the first two steps (Show DC student ID and proof of enrolment)

Employees:

  • Go to the front desk in Pinetree Community Centre and let the representative know that you are a Douglas College employee and would like to get your complimentary Activity Card
  • Show your Douglas College employee ID
  • An account will be started for you and your picture will be taken for the Activity Card
  • You will be given your card
  • The card must be scanned at the front desk each visit
  • A wrist band must be worn during your visits (these are at the front desk)
