FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
BOLLYX: A Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness class that combines dynamic choreography and intensive workouts with upbeat music from around the world. You will learn the basics of Bollywood, Classical, Folk, Bhangra, and other styles of Indian dance, along with the basics of expression and performance.
CIRCUIT TRAINING: Get your full body workout here. You will move through 8-10 stations, alternating muscle group exercises so little rest is needed in between stations. With cardio to strength training you will feel strong and sweaty when you are done this class -- different levels and modifications are always offered.
CORE FLOW YOGA: The best of both worlds. Stabilize, mobilize, and increase the mind-body union through a combination of Yoga, Pilates, and core strengthening routines. Mats and blocks are provided.
HATHA YOGA: Breathing exercises to cleanse, postures to strengthen, and relaxation for the mind and body. Hatha Yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear peaceful mind. Mats and blocks are provided.
HIIT 35 + HIIT 50: We want to get you fit and have you challenge your mind and body. This high intensity interval training class combines strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns. We recommend a moderate level of fitness for this class.
POWER YOGA: A class to help improve strength, flexibility and balance with a continual flow of postures and dynamic breathing techniques. Through this practice you cleanse the body, stimulate your cardiovascular system, develop agility and balance and build muscle tone. Mats and blocks provided.
RIDE 30, 35, 50*: Energizing 30 - 50 minute cardiovascular challenges on our Keiser M3i bikes. Push yourself up hill climbs, sprints, and a variety of strenuous drills. These are fast paced classes with upbeat tunes that will keep you motivated to reach the 30 - 50 minute finish line.
STRENGTH 30: In this quick 30 minute class you will use dumbbells and body weight to push yourself through a variety of exercises that target your arms, legs, core and glutes. The class is fast paced with few breaks to help keep your heart rate elevated and body fully activated.
ZUMBA: Zumba takes the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. A total workout, combining all elements of fitness - carido, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.
*RIDE class registration procedures -- New West Campus Only (10 bikes available): To guarantee a spot you can register for RIDE classes 48 hours (business hours) before the class times begin (Call the Front Desk 604.527.5775 or stop by)
Cancellation Policy: If something has come up and you can no longer attend a class, please notify the Fitness Centre Front Desk as soon as possible so they can open up the seat to someone else. If you do not provide notification and do not show up you will not be given the 48 hour priority registration for future classes -- you will only be able to sign up on the day of the class offering.
