Orientation and EDGE Planners

Help Plan Orientation!

We are looking for two stellar students who have a passion for planning Orientation!

Job Description:

  • Create event goals and programming through consultation with students and campus partners
  • Assist with a marketing and work with the communications team to create an event marketing plan.
  • Assist with creating an event budget and track spending and foreseen costs
  • Support with the gathering of supplies, facility bookings, and catering
  • Assist with recruiting, selecting, and training volunteers
  • Oversee event registration and participant communication
  • Supervise volunteers, and participants during the event. Support arising issues regarding maturity and thoughtfulness.

To be a Successful Candidate:

  • You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • You must be available all event dates and training dates (listed below)
  • You must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • You must be an organized, responsible, professional and flexible
  • You must be committed to inclusion
  • You must be comfortable addressing large crowds
  • Previous event planning is preferred
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred

Important Dates

Application Deadline:

  • Tuesday April 9, 2019 at 4:00pm. Interview invites will be sent out on April 10th for those of you who pass the application process.

Interviews:

  • April 11th- April 17th

Training + Event Dates:

  • Orientation Planner Training April 29th/May 1st – 3rd, 2019 + May 13th, 2019
  • Summer New Student Orientation May 6th – 8th, 2019
  • General New Student Orientation Training July 22nd, 2019
  • New Student Orientation August 20th-23rd, August 27th-August 29th

Job Description:

  • Create event goals and programming through consultation with students and campus partners
  • Assist with a marketing and work with the communications team to create an event marketing plan.
  • Assist with creating an event budget and track spending and foreseen costs
  • Support with the gathering of supplies, facility bookings, and catering
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and training EDGE Leaders.
  • Provide support and guidance to EDGE leaders during the event.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and managing volunteers
  • Oversee event registration and participant communication.
  • Supervise EDGE leaders, volunteers, and participants during the event.
  • Support arising issues regarding maturity and thoughtfulness.

To be a Successful Candidate:

  • You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • You must be available for the important dates below
  • You must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • You must be an organized individual
  • You must be comfortable addressing crowds
  • You must be personable, professional, and committed to inclusion
  • Previous event planning experience is preferred
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred

  • EDGE Dates: September 12,13,14, 2019
