CONNECTIONS

In response to the situation with COVID-19, the CONNECTIONS program at Douglas College is now being offered online and will return to in-person sessions when it is safe to do so.  Your safety is important to us. Douglas College is following protocols from Provincial Health Authorities.

Newcomer Employment Program

  Workplace Culture | Employment Preparation | Job Placement |Essential Skills

Empowering immigrants in BC by supporting newcomers with the employability skills they will need to succeed in Canada.

Program Highlights

  • 8 weeks of online-class workplace skills training
  • 4 weeks of job placement & ongoing job support  
  • Industry-specific training and certificates
  • Canadian Workplace Culture 
  • Classmate support and an opportunity to build meaningful relationships 
  • Refreshment and transportation support provided

Program Eligibility *Updated

  • For ages 17 +
  • LINC 4 (Since moving to online, we have increased language requirements)
  • Must have access to a computer, WiFi and basic digital technology skills
  • Permanent Resident, Family Class or persons with refugee status in Canada
  • CLB2+ or LINC3
  • Unable to accept Canadian Citizens, temporary foreign workers, skilled immigrants, or refugee claimant who have not yet received a positive decision on their refugee status claim
