Uganda Field School


CFCS and Psychiatric Nursing students can study in Uganda in Summer 2020!

Earn six Douglas College credits in only 7 weeks' time:

  • CFCS 3900: Perspectives in International and Community Development
  • DACS 2440: Service-Learning

Program Schedule*


Spend 2 weeks here, and 5 weeks in Uganda!

  • April 27 – Two weeks of classes start at Douglas College
  • May 9 – Group departure to Uganda
  • May 11 – Arrive in Masaka, Uganda
  • June 17 – Service-Learning begins at various front-line service organizations
  • June 18 and 19 – Travel to and stay in Entebbe, Uganda for debriefing
  • June 20 – Program ends.  Return home, or start personal travel.

Program Fee:  $3,000



  • group airport transfer upon arrival in Uganda
  • all accommodations (shared)
  • all breakfasts and dinners, except when staying at Banana Village Eco Resort (3 nights)
  • return transportation to service learning site, Monday - Friday


  • passport application*

  • tuition and other Douglas College student fees**
  • mandatory vaccinations and/or medicines
  • airfare
  • mandatory travel medical insurance
  • airport transfers in Vancouver
  • all lunches and meals during 3-night stay at Banana Village
  • cell phone service plan

*Passports need to be valid for at least 6 months after you return to Canada.  For example, if you plan to come home on July 1, 2020, your passport needs to be valid at least until January 1, 2021.
**Subsidies available through the Uganda Endowment Fund.

Program Application



    • Application:  Friday, November 29
    • Flight booking and payment:  soon after application deadline.  Accepted applicants will be notified.
    • Program Fee and Tuition Fee payment: Tuesday, April 14

    • Douglas College students may be eligible for a $750 to $2,000 award/scholarship!
    • A minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA is required
    • Application form coming soon!  Contact to be put on the notification list.
    • Scholarship application deadline:  Thursday, January 31 

    U-Pass BC Program

    Please note that students registered in field school courses will be opted out of the U-Pass BC Program for the Summer 2020 semester.
