The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society, in partnership with the Victoria Foundation, hosts a suite of international scholarships designed to support Canadian and Permanent Resident of Canada students from BC as they participate in study or work programs that take place outside of Canada and the United States. Successful applicants must clearly demonstrate academic merit as well as significant involvement in their community and/or school.
For 2017, scholarships will be available to qualified Douglas College students on a competitive basis. The minimum overall GPA eligibility requirement is 3.00 ('B' standing). More scholarship information and an application form are available on the Society's webpage.
Students may also be considered for a high-value Premier's International Scholarship if they meet additional criteria and indicate interest. These applications are adjudicated by the Irving K. Barber BC Scholarship Society and must be submitted by post or in person directly to reach their office by May 1st, 2017. Applications submitted by email are not accepted. More scholarship information and an application form are available on the Society's webpage.
Note: Recipients are granted only one award or scholarship per activity regardless of the number and types of applications they submit. If your overall GPA is between 2.00 and under 3.00, please apply for the Douglas College International Studies Award of Distinction. Please note that recipients can get this award only once. If your overall GPA is 3.00 or higher, please apply for the One World International Scholarship. If your overall GPA is 3.33 or higher and your activity grants academic credit and is at least 3 months' long, then you have the choice of applying for a high-value Premier's International Scholarship or a One World International Scholarship.
