Alison taught many years as a K-12 Physical Educator in New Brunswick before moving to BC to teach beginner sport leaders within the Douglas College Sport Science programs.  As a National Coaching Certification Level IV (in progress) Alison has coached Women’s Provincial Basketball Teams in New Brunswick and British Columbia and Head coached the BCCAA Women’s Basketball Teams for both Capilano University and Douglas College.  Administratively, Alison was Fieldwork Coordinator for the Douglas Bachelor of Physical Education Degree and Coordinator of the Douglas Coaching Diploma Program.

In her teaching, Alison believes that the students need to be equal partners in the learning process, best achieved through placing the learner in ‘real-world situations’.  By allowing for using a hands-on, student centered delivery of curriculum,  the student uses both peer dialogue and other appropriate resources to develop the ability to critically examine and problem solve for effective application of theory to practice.
