Practicums allow you to gain hands-on experience by using the skills you learn in the classroom in real-world workplace situations. As a student in the Program of Sign Language Interpretation you will complete three, one-month practicum placements during your final semester, when you will be teamed with professional interpreters in their work settings.
INTR students have participated in practicum experiences at a variety of locations, including schools for the Deaf, post-secondary institutions, private placement companies, agencies, the K-12 system, and with various independent practitioners in private practice. At least one of these placements will occur outside of the Lower Mainland and all expenses incurred (travel, accommodation, etc.) are the responsibility of the individual student
