Health Care Support Worker

If you are passionate about helping people and want to work with clients who have both physical and mental health challenges, the Health Care Support Worker program can help you launch a rewarding career in health care - one of Canada’s fastest growing job sectors.

Unique Program

Based out of our Coquitlam Campus, the Health Care Support Worker program is the only public college program in the Lower Mainland that combines training in both physical and mental health skills.

The three-semester program is a combination of the Health Care Assistant (two semesters) and the Community Mental Health Worker (one semester) programs.

Gain Competitive Skills

You’ll learn how to assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, personal grooming, eating and maintaining mobility.

Instruction is based on the concepts of promoting a strong quality of life for every client, and making a positive difference in the lives of people with diverse health needs.

Career Options

Once you graduate, you may find work in hospitals, assisted living and care facilities, recreation centres and other places where a Health Care Support Worker’s services may be needed. Our graduates enjoy an employment rate of close to 95 percent.
