604-527-JOBS facilitates the transition to employment for graduates of the Douglas College Vocational Education and Skills Training Programs. 

Services to VEST Graduates

  • Employment services are no cost to VEST graduates 
  • Working with each graduate on an individual basis, focusing on strengths, skills and abilities
  • Identifying an employment goal for the job search
  • Developing an action plan
  • Preparing and distributing cover letters and resumes
  • Providing a current job posting board, a large database of employers and Internet and job bank access
  • Practicing and preparing for the interview
  • Advocating for workplace accommodations
  • Securing job placements for successful candidates
  • Collaborating with Community Employment Services and other stakeholders to ensure successful transitions

Services to Employers

  • Employment services are no cost to employers
  • Referrals of suitable graduates
  • Availability of up to four weeks unpaid job training, prior to hiring
  • Initial job coaching to enhance acquisition of skills
  • Developing a liaison between employers and appropriate agencies for long-term follow-up
