Gary Tennant, Acting Dean, Child, Family & Community Studies (CFCS), congratulates Andrea Welling, 2011 Recipient of the Ellen Edwards Career Development Practice (CDP) Award of Distinction.
On March 23, 2011, Andrea Welling, Career Development Practice Intensive Program was recognized as the 2011 recipient of the Ellen Edwards CDP Student Award of Distinction. Ellen Edwards, one of the original co-developers of the CDP Program presented Andrea a cheque at the 14th Annual Tea and Awards ceremony. Upon Ellen's retirement from NETWERCC (now BC Career Development Association) in 2005, Dr. Cheryl Jeffs, Continuing Education faculty, established this annual Award to recognize Ellen's contribution to the program and her ongoing commitment to Douglas College students.
Students enrolled in a CDP program are eligible to apply for the Ellen Edwards CDP Student Award of Distinction.
A Message from Andrea Welling:
I am honored to be chosen as a recipient of the 2011 Ellen Edwards CDP Award of Distinction.
I am thoroughly enjoying all my courses and instructors through the Career Development Practice (CDP) program at Douglas College. A recent highlight was an assignment for the Introduction to Employment Counselling course. I helped a friend’s sister in her next steps with career exploration and she was successful at getting a job interview almost immediately.
The CDP program is providing the skills and information for me to become a competent career development practitioner in the field. I also loved our experience to participate in the annual BCCDA conference as volunteers.
Thank you for this Award.
