Jan Carrie, Dean Child, Family & Community Studies, Congratulates Brian Parker, 2009 Recipient of the Ellen Edwards CDP Student Award

On March 25 2009, Brian Parker, Career Development Practitioner (CDP) Student, CFCS CE was honoured as the 2009 recipient of the Ellen Edwards CDP Student Award.  Ellen Edwards, one of the original co-developers of the Career Development Practitioner Program presented Brian a $500 cheque at the 12 Annual Tea and Awards ceremony. Upon Ellen's retirement from NETWERCC (now ENET) in 2005, Cheryl Jeffs, Continuing Education faculty, established this annual Award to recognize Ellen's contribution to the program and her ongoing commitment to Douglas College students. Students enrolled in the Career Development Practitioner program are eligible to apply for the Award. Details here

This was a special ceremony for Douglas College President Susan Witter, before her retirement this summer.

A message from Brian Parker
It is with gratitude and humility I accept the Ellen Edwards CDP student award. Although the financial assistance is greatly appreciated it is even more rewarding to receive the validation and support of your peers when striving for new goals in life. Being a Career Development Practitioner is about transforming lives for the better; with this Award and Douglas College Certificate I hope to be able to join the ranks of those who are performing this valuable service.

Thank you.
