Douglas College Foundation announces new Board Executive

The Douglas College Foundation revealed their new Board Executive following its annual general meeting in June 2020. The new executive includes a new member, as well as the continuity of experience from past board executive teams.

The new Douglas College Foundation Board Executive are:

  • Nick Cheng, Board Chair – Financial Advisor, Edward Jones
  • John Evans, Vice-Chair – former Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at BCAA 
  • Kathy Gallagher, Treasurer – Account Manager, CUMIS
  • Jill Cook, Secretary – former Executive Director of the Coquitlam Foundation and former CEO at the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce

“Our new executives are leaders in both business and in our communities,” said Leanne Poon, Executive Director of the Douglas College Foundation. “With their guidance and sage advice, we hope to continue to build the Douglas College Foundation’s profile in the community and increase the much needed support for Douglas College students.”

Cheng, Gallagher and Cook continue their ongoing support of the Foundation, having previously served as Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Evans previously served as Chair for the Douglas College Board. Each of the Board Executive are appointed for a three-year term.   

Established in 1985, the Douglas College Foundation provides financial assistance to Douglas College students through the generosity and support of donors, community partners and volunteers. During the 2019/20 academic year, the Foundation distributed over $2.07 million in scholarships, awards and bursaries to 2,305 students.
