Strong Start provides new students with the opportunity to explore campus, learn about services, and meet other students. This program is designed to help you have a successful and memorable first experience at Douglas College. Orientation registration information will be sent to your email address on file. Welcome to Douglas College! Here is your online orientation schedule for all new international students. 

Workshop Schedule

Two Options to Attend (For International Students)

To ensure convenient attendance for all students in all parts of the world, we have two options for students to attend. Each workshop will be offered twice in cohorts 'A' and 'C'. Most students will choose to attend the AM sessions OR the PM sessions but you are welcome to mix and match between offerings. 

Each time listed below is the local time in Vancouver. You may use a time conversion tool such as World Time Buddy to check what time that will be in your country of study. 

Strong Start: New Student Orientation - Fall 2020 (A)

All workshops will begin at 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM each day. See the schedule above for more information.  


Strong Start: New Student Orientation - Fall 2020 (C)

All workshops will begin at 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM each day. See the schedule above for more information.  

Registration will be emailed to you by August 10th. 

Faculty Specific Orientation

  • Next, you should ALSO register for YOUR faculty orientation to learn about program specific information. 
  • Be sure to check out your program and faculty here if you aren't sure.
  • Then register for one of the following Faculty Orientations to learn all about your program and meet other students in your course of study!

Download Zoom to Attend

In order to participate in the live workshops students will need to download and install Zoom on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet. It's free and will be used in many upcoming workshops, courses, advising sessions, etc.

Strong Start Here (Blackboard Course)

Strong Start Here: Welcome to Douglas College is a brand new online learning tool that lives right in your Blackboard. Learn all about Douglas College and how to be a successful student. This is a self-paced, self-enrolled course that is available for all new students.

This course will be available on August 17th for all students.
