Study at
Douglas College in
Vancouver, Canada

In 2016, Douglas College hosted 2,000 international students from 85 countries. As an applied academic institution, Douglas College combines the academic foundations of a university with the employer-ready skills of a college. At Douglas, you will receive the best of both worlds: a deep, well-rounded education and the applied, real-world skills necessary to achieve academic and career success.

We offer…

> Programs that are practical and applied.

Our degrees are equivalent to those offered at universities. But here’s the difference: Our degrees are applied, which means you’ll have opportunities to take what you’ve learned and actually do it – before you graduate. If you’re looking to boost your skills through one of our post-degree diplomas or career programs, you’ll be investing in an education designed to land you a job, attain specialized knowledge, or move your career in a new direction.

> A strong return-on-investment.

Our international tuition fees are the most affordable in Metro Vancouver. You’ll save thousands by taking your first and second year at Douglas and then transferring into third year at a top Canadian university. Additionally, we offer dedicated entrance scholarships to top incoming international students and additional funding to current international students who demonstrate academic excellence.

> A clear pathway to university.

Through our University Transfer program, thousands of international students have successfully transferred to nearly all of Canada's more than 90 universities while obtaining a 2-year associate degree or diploma. The Douglas Difference means you’ll have received two years of education with the same courses, content, and quality as a university but with smaller class sizes and professors dedicated to teaching.

> Access to a wide variety of career opportunities.

Our Metro Vancouver location will allow you access to a wide variety of industries and unique opportunities ranging from tech, finance, social enterprise, the green economy, entertainment, and manufacturing. Vancouver was recently ranked #1 Forecasted Future Economic Growth in Canada and has been labelled “the new tech hub” with 7,000+ tech companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung and Cisco setting up offices here.

> The opportunity to gain Canadian work experience.

Canadian immigration laws allow you to work up to 20 hours a week during your studies. Once you graduate, you can apply for a work permit under the federal government’s Post-Graduation Work Permit Program, which allows you to gain work experience before returning to your home country. The practical and applied skills you’ll gain at Douglas will boost your post-graduation employment prospects.

> Smaller class sizes.

First-year classes at major universities can have 500 to 800 students. At Douglas, the same courses are taught in a class of 30 to 35 students. As a result, you will have the chance to engage in class discussion and develop meaningful connections with the instructor and your classmates.

> A diverse student body.

You’ll learn from your classmates as well as your professors. In 2016, Douglas College hosted 2,000 international students from 85 countries.

> The opportunity to stay globally-engaged.

At Douglas, you will have the opportunity to go further afield through our range of study or applied experiences abroad.

> Direct entry through an ESL pathway.

We work with several internationally-acclaimed ESL providers and our own English Language Learning and Acquisition (ELLA) program to provide articulated pathways that allow you to seamlessly enter Douglas College without having to take an entrance exam, or provide TOEFL, IELTS or EIKEN results.

> A unique campus experience.

Our New Westminster campus is located in the heart of Metro Vancouver but holds the unique advantage of being situated in a community with a character all of its own. “New West” is often described as a small town in a big city and features trendy restaurants, cafes, gelato shops, microbreweries, and its own riverfront waterside community. Yet, we’re only 20 minutes away from bustling downtown Vancouver via SkyTrain.
