Can I take the Summer semester off and work?

This tool is designed for current Douglas College International students who would like to have a better understanding of:

  1. when the scheduled breaks are in their programs, and
  2. their eligibility to work in Canada during scheduled breaks.

This tool is not designed for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Certificate program, if you are enrolled in this program please visit our working eligibility page or contact one of our advisors for more information. 

Please note that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allows each institution to define full-time studies and scheduled breaks.

The summer semester (from May to August) may be considered a scheduled break at Douglas College unless summer is your first or last semester, please check this link to view more details when checking your eligibility for scheduled breaks.
