Douglas College’s IT Security Team continuously reviews best practice and updates security standards to keep both the College’s and students’ personal information safe. Currently, this means increasing online security measures by updating our password standard.
On April 29, all myAccount PINs shorter than 10 characters will be prompted for a change after logging in. Your new PIN must follow the new standard highlighted below. If your current PIN is longer than 10 characters, you will not be prompted for a change. However, if you forget your PIN and need to reset it, or would like to change your PIN, your new PIN must follow the new standard.
Password Standard Effective April 29, 2019:
For your Douglas College accounts, use a minimum of 10 characters and a combination of at least three of the following:
Take the Password Test to validate the strength of your PIN. Aim for a PIN that would take at least three million years to crack.
