Starting today, if you are logging into myAccount for the first time, you will be prompted to change the default birthday PIN. Just like with your College Network Access (CNA) password, Douglas College recommends you choose a 15-character passphrase as your new myAccount PIN. Passphrases are more secure and easier to remember.
What is a passphrase?
Passphrase is a sequence of random words that may contain mixed case, numbers, symbols and punctuation, such as Never!wenttoBali. Passphrases are generally easy to remember, despite being longer, but they are much harder for hackers to guess (131 billion years to crack the example above). Curious about how long it would take a hacker to figure out a password? Visit How Secure is my Password? (but don’t use your real password).
If your myAccount is already active, you won’t be prompted to change your PIN. However, we strongly recommend that you change your 6-digit PIN to a PIN with at least 15-characters. This is especially important if you still use your birthdate to login.
