Leanne Poon

Leanne was born and raised in Coquitlam and joined the Foundation in early 2017 after working in post-secondary education in Alumni and Development for 30 years. Leanne studied Business Management at Dalhousie University while building her family and career in Vancouver. Leanne is an ardent supporter of post-secondary education and thrives on connecting alumni, donors, friends and partners to promote lifelong engagement to further gifts of time, talent and treasure for the benefit of the students and College. She prides herself in being open minded, adaptable to change with an open communication style and loves to be creative and think “outside of the box”. She is married with three grown daughters who have launched their own professional careers following their post-secondary studies and currently lives in Cloverdale, BC. Excited for the opportunities and growth ahead for the Douglas College Foundation, it’s “full steam ahead” embarking on an exciting journey to increase the profile of the Foundation, expand philanthropic support for our students and build on our alumni engagement opportunities.

Shannon McInnes

Shannon McInnes has spent the last 15 years in charitable fund development, raising over $35M for social services, education and health charities in British Columbia with time spent in roles at Canadian Cancer Society, BCIT and United Way of the Lower Mainland. She combines a donor-centric approach with high level strategy to engage donors, partners, government and the private sector to fund initiatives that will help move the needle on economic, health and social outcomes. With education a clear passion, she is thrilled to be returning to post-secondary fundraising with Douglas College as we enter into our 50th anniversary year and all the possibility that holds.

Prior to her career in fundraising, Shannon had roles in retail, government and banking. Shannon also volunteers on a number of boards and committees in the Fraser Valley while trying to balance a full life with her partner and their 4 children in a heritage house in Cloverdale.

Sherrill came to the Foundation in 2014 with an extensive background in grant distribution and event coordination from the non-profit sector. She uses these skills to support students at Douglas College through the distribution of Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards, as well as, in the planning and implementation of our various events. An Alumna of Douglas College herself, Sherrill is dedicated to giving our students the opportunity they deserve to expand their education and gain the skills necessary to enjoy a successful career. An avid outdoors woman she spends her weekends exploring local walking trails around the Fraser Valley.
  Sally Patterson

Sally has been with Douglas College since 2014. After four years working with students in the Registrar’s office, she joined the Foundation in August 2018. She studied Human Resources Management at KPU and has always had a passion for helping others. Sally is excited to use her extensive background in administration to support the Foundation and play her part in helping students succeed. She brings with her a wealth of institutional knowledge, coupled with several years working in an administrative capacity. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors with her family and exploring the world through her son’s eyes.

Susan joined the Foundation in January 2016 after previously working in the Facilities department at Douglas College for three years. Susan has extensive experience with databases, computer systems and social media, and brings these skills to work on behalf of the Foundation’s corporate and individual donors. Prior to joining Douglas College, Susan worked in Continuing Studies at Simon Fraser University for over 15 years. A long-time Tri-Cities resident, Susan is active in her community and is currently a board member of the Women's Collaborative Hub.

Carly came to the Foundation in May 2019, bringing with her a passion for sharing stories and her varied background in tourism, academia and magazine publishing. After growing up internationally, Carly returned home to Canada to pursue a degree in English and Creative Writing at UBC. A vocal supporter of the benefits of accessible, inclusive post-secondary education, Carly is excited to contribute to the Foundation's ongoing support of Douglas College's students. In her spare time, you can find Carly reading too many books and exploring her own backyard.
